Children don't learn about emotions in the abstract — they see them played out by a team of wonderfully imperfect tradie animals, and then they practise noticing and navigating their own.

The Roo Crew are 14 (mostly) native Australian animal characters — including Raj the Tiger and Ali the Ibex, who represent the rich diversity of families in our communities. Each has a distinct personality and a specific emotional strength. Every child finds their own. So do the educators.

Questions we hear from directors

Good questions deserve straight answers.

How long does it take to implement? We're already at capacity.

Each module session takes around 20–30 minutes to deliver. The educator guides are fully scripted — there's no expectation that your team will design their own content. Most centres start with one module per term. If your room has 20 minutes and a willing educator, it works.

Do educators need special training before they can use it?

No formal training required. The session guides walk educators through everything — what to say, what to ask, how to respond. We've designed it specifically for early childhood settings where training time is limited. Some centres do a 15-minute team read-through before the first session. That's plenty.

We're a small independent centre. Is this designed for big services?

Not at all. R.O.O. works in a room of 8 or 28. It's designed to be flexible — you can run it with one educator and a group, or weave it across your whole programme. Small centres have told us they actually find it easier because there's less coordination overhead.

What happens after the first year — do we pay again?

Yes, the $495 is an annual fee. After your founding year, we'll be in touch well before renewal with the terms — no surprises, no automatic charges. If you choose not to renew, your downloaded resources remain yours to use.

We serve children from diverse cultural backgrounds. Does R.O.O. work across cultures?

Yes — and intentionally so. The Roo Crew includes 14 (mostly) native Australian animal characters, plus Raj the Tiger and Ali the Ibex — who are there specifically to represent the immigrant and multicultural communities that are part of so many Australian centres. The emotional content resonates across cultures. We have pilot data from Australia, the UK, and internationally. More translation and cultural adaptation resources are in development for founding centres.
